At Macushla, our name reflects the heart of everything we do. Derived from the Irish term mo chuisle, meaning “my pulse” or “my heartbeat,” Macushla is an affectionate expression often understood as “my darling” or “my heart.” To us, it represents the deep connection we share with our animals, the land, and the life we are building—a life guided by passion, purpose, and respect for the things that matter most.
We are building a future rooted in responsible stewardship, quality animals, and a more intentional, self-sustaining way of life. Our livestock and companion animal programs emphasize health, sound genetics, thoughtful breeding practices, and long-term sustainability. We believe responsible animal husbandry goes beyond breeding or production; it means recognizing the unique value of each animal and providing the care, environment, and opportunities they need to thrive.
As lifelong learners, we are committed to continually expanding our knowledge, refining our practices, and learning from both our successes and challenges. From animal health and genetics to land stewardship and sustainable living, we believe meaningful progress comes through dedication, experience, and a willingness to improve.
Above all, Macushla is about passion with purpose—raising quality animals, honoring the responsibility that comes with their care, and building something meaningful along the way. We value the connections we make with others who share our appreciation for animals and responsible stewardship, and we invite you to follow along as our story continues.
